

CENTRAL PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The Central Public Works Department (C.P.W.D.) presently under the Ministry of Urban Development is the principal agency of Govt. of India for creation & maintenance of all Central Government assets except those belonging to Railways, Defence Communication, Atomic Energy, airports & All India Radio. It's origin can be traced back to July 1854. The department has completed more than 150 years.
In it's long journey it has created prestigious & monumental structures like Rashtrapati Bhawan, North Block, South Block Parliament House, Vigyan Bhawan, Parliament Annexe, Supreme Court. Besides C.P.W.D. has played significant and major role in the development of infrastructure for sports, health education, agriculture research etc.
